The ECT_Joint program, implemented in the MS Excel environment, performs strength analysis of bolted composite joints. The analysis of composite parts is based on two techniques:
1). so-called "Bearing-Bypass" technique - a fastener transfers a portion of the total load via a bearing (contact) force exerted on the laminate around the hole, but the remaining load bypasses this fastener, so laminate strength depends on the ratio of these loads;
2). so-called "Local Stress" technique - first, the stress-strain state is obtained using Lekhnitskii’s formalism for anisotropic plates, then the strength analysis is based on the critical distance theory.
The strength analysis of fastener consists of three components - tension strength, shear strength and bending strength.
